By now you’ve definitely come across TOO LEGIT on Facebook - in short it’s the new Friday night at Buffalo Underground.  Now, I could tell you it’s “Edmonton’s hottest Friday night” (kinda like, every other dance night, ever) but let me be real for a second and explain just what makes it so special:

This isn’t just a night run by Easy Love - not at all.  In truth, Too Legit started when I got a call from Cobra Commander of Oh Snap!, who wanted to start a new night.  Something different, somewhere that we could call home to all the music that we love that never quite fit completely anywhere else.  Especially with the whole moombahton craze that’s finally blowing up (something that namely myself, Cobra Commander and P-Rex have been supporting for over a year), it just feels right to do something that isn’t purely electro and isn’t purely dubstep either.  We all have eclectic tastes and Too Legit is our outlet. 

I’m also genuinely excited for Too Legit because of the people on the bill.  Cobra Commander’s been DJing since I was in diapers and P-Rex is one of my favorite local DJs ever.  I’m not just saying that now, I’ve always said that and for good reason.  The other cats all bring something different to the table - Jordan Andrew is an amazing young producer and can scratch like a demon, I can’t wait to see where he’s at in even a year.  The Specialist kills the floor with tracks borne in dance but definitely laced with an urban flavour.  And of course there’s the one and only Polyesterday, who is a truly a mature DJ whose tastes really do round out the rest of our selections.  Put together, Too Legit is a hotbox of experienced DJs who have all been in the game for quite a while.  These are dudes that I really look up to, and it’s more than an honour to play alongside them.

Behind the scenes, you bet we have a lot of ideas cookin’.  Both Easy Love and Oh! Snap have booked countless shows and you can look forward to us pouring our energies into making Too Legit something special as well.  Between having local and international guests, my favorite part about Too Legit is the spirit behind it.  We’re not about egos, crews, or anything of the sort.  We’re really there in the end for the music - after all, that’s why we even began planning to start *a* night together, it just serendipitously ended up being every Friday at Buffalo.

So if you’re as hyped as I am, show your support and come out this Friday.  I won’t be playing every Friday, but in my place we will rotate amongst the roster of Easy Love DJs.  Also, there’ll be some cool VIP cards coming out very very soon for the realheads who know where the party’s at so don’t sleep!

Two Charming Men, a fairly new 19 year-old duo from Ireland, sent me their new remixes of Lorcan Mak’s track “4 The Love” and Disco Killah’s “Ravage”.  These remixes are their first ever attempts at remixing and are already getting support from big artists like Foamo, PeaceTreaty, Arveene, Lorcan Mak, AudioFun, Disco Killah, Mekka Mekka and Schizofonics to name a few!  The future is looking really bright for these young stars, expect tons of support from Easy Love for them!

On Friday April 9, Easy Love is bringing French House and Electro legend DatA to Edmonton (Facebook Event Here). DJ Tron, Optimixx Prime and Miyuru Fernando are now holding down a hot Friday night residency at Fluid, hosted by The Internationals. And as anyone who was out last Friday will tell you, this collaboration is set to make your Friday nights crazy and bangin’ every week! March 19 will be especially excellent as we’ll have Funkerman, an international superstar laying down some of the hottest house music coming out of the Netherlands, and all you need to pay is $10 cover!

Also THIS FRIDAY at Fluid is a very special day because we are celebrating the birthday of one of our DJs and promoters, Fraser aka Optimixx Prime! So come on down and wish him a happy birthday and have some DRANKS and dance to some BEATS!!!

Its been tough keeping this one under wraps for so long but we’re absolutely stoked to finally announce it!  On Friday, April 9th we’ll be bringing DatA all the way from Paris to pay Edmonton a visit, and in the process, absolutely destroy the Pawn Shop!

For those unfamiliar, expect a night of full-on electro with a very French feel.  DatA’s own productions range from French party anthems to more melodic dance tracks such as “One In A Million”.  On top of all that, he’s produced official remixes for the likes of Chromeo, Felix Da Housecat, M83, his labelmate Danger and many, many more.  His AMAZING remix of La Roux’s “I’m Not Your Toy” basically serves to define his sound:

For the remainder of February, we thought we would get back to our roots with a series of parties for all our supporters and friends in the industry who just want to DANCE! No gimmicks, no advance tickets, no worries - these parties are dedicated to everyone who’s ever supported us, be it from a year ago or yesterday, we got your back!

Next Wednesday, February 17th we will be throwing a special Fan Appreciation Party at Twist Ultra Lounge. $4 Hi-balls and best of all NO COVER! On top of that, lights, fog, lasers and all that jazz will be provided by our friends at Pearl Entertainment, and our good friend Dima Disco will be joining us in the booth for what’s sure to be the craziest reading week party yet!

As well, we’ll also be playing two more shows in February, first at Fluid Lounge with our friends The Internationals THIS FRIDAY and later on, at The Savoy on Whyte on Saturday, February 20th. All events are listed on the sidebar to the right and also on our Facebook group page.
