Urban Metropolis’ THRILLER - Edmonton’s Ultimate Halloween Party!

Facebook event page here & official website here.

It seems every Halloween we get involved with Urban Metropolis’ THRILLER, and there’s tons of reasons for it, the main one being it’s by far the craziest Halloween party in Edmonton (let alone Western Canada…) and that’s something we’re always proud to be a part of!

Unlike last year, this year the party’s moving to the Edmonton Expo (i.e. Northlands) to accommodate a larger crowd.  On top of that, the DJ lineup is unreal - Miyuru Fernando, Optimixx Prime, Audiosex, David Stone, All Out DJs, Jordan Andrew, Kush (half of Secret Squares!), Miguel Amador, DJ Twist - all featured on the event alongside Urban Metropolis O.G.’s Harman B & DJ Kwake.

Past the entertainment, there’ll be a costume contest as usual with some major $$$ up for grabs!  Peep the official website for full details, and make sure to hit us up for tickets if you can’t get to an outlet in time!

The BIG Show with Shout Out Out Out Out!

Thought we’d drop a little update on the blog before things get really hectic!  This month we’re a part of two really awesome shows - “The Big Show” with some of our favorite local bands and of course, Urban Metropolis’ “Thriller” - which if you live in Edmonton know is the be-all-end-all of Halloween parties here!

Facebook event page here.

As we’re fans of all sorts of music and not necessarily dance music, we were ecstatic to be a part of a show with one of Edmonton’s most popular local bands Shout Out Out Out Out (SOX4).  I remember one of the first concerts I ever attended (before I was into dance music) was with SOX4 at The Starlite, and I couldn’t get enough since.  The music was definitely ahead of its time, with the live act fusing elements of dance with synthpop and it was honestly a rager!  I’m quite stoked for this one, especially as our friends Mass Choir are on the bill as well as Cygnets.  If all these names are relatively foreign to you, we would encourage you to take a chance on something new!

Following this event, we’ll be collaborating with Urban Metropolis for their annual Halloween party “THRILLER”, and of course we will be hosting a night at Halo once more!  More details on those two soon, but if you can’t wait definitely check out the Facebook page for Thriller!

EEMF IS TONIGHT!

If you’re in Edmonton tonight, there’s definitely only one place you should be - EEMF!  We’re proud to be part of the first annual Edmonton Electronic Music Festival, hosted by our extended family All Blown Up!  Come show some love and remember this party is going down ALL NIGHT.  Real parties for real heads, let’s go!

Tickets are available at the door but if you haven’t got your ticket yet we recommend getting there EARLY to ensure entry.

SEXCULT Returns to Edmonton with BLACK MATTER + Video from LUCKY DATE!

Click here for the Facebook event page!

Out of all the DJs we’ve ever booked, nobody has honestly performed as impressively as BLACK MATTER (you may know him as JESSE JAMZ).  Beginning his career as DESIGNER DRUGS’ assistant, he’s moved forward as the first recruit in the SEXCULT camp on top of forthcoming releases on ULTRA RECORDS.

No stranger to Edmonton, his first show last summer was sold out and then some:

And of course, this time around the show will be at Buffalo Underground.  I wonder how our last show there went?

Looks like it’ll be another rager ;)  Make sure to get at us through Facebook to get your advance ticket, otherwise you’ll have to pay at the door.  We’ve priced this show (and many more in the future) at $7 so get your ticket NOW as these are bound to go QUICK!

Thanks for your support and stay tuned for even more show announcements!

DJ Shadow Tomorrow Night at EEC!

Click here for the Facebook event page!

Tomorrow night, one of the coolest productions in recent memory will be making its way to Edmonton!  DJ Shadow, one of music’s honest-to-God legends, is touring and this time around is featuring the Shadowsphere.  In short, it’s a huge sphere that he DJs in, but the cool part about it is the video projected onto it (coupled with a huge screen behind the set up).  Check out this video for a glimpse:

On top of all that, Easy Love has been invited to open the show alongside Echo from Edmonton’s All Out DJs.  We’re not only excited but honored to take part in this!

See you at EEC tomorrow night!

SECRET SQUARES CD RELEASE PARTY!

Click here for the Facebook event page!

You may have been introduced to our friends SECRET SQUARES at the Mat The Alien show a couple months ago.  To us, they’re one of the more exciting acts to come out of Edmonton - both members being extremely active in the music scene *outside* dance music makes for something super interesting once turned electronic.

Not only having produced a complete album, the duo has since produced a number of banging remixes which you can listen to below.  And on top of that, they perform LIVE.  This isn’t just another DJ set.

911 Turbo-Lazerbeamz (Secret Squares Remix) by Secret Squares

Hervé & A-Trak ft. Cadence Weapon-Roll with the Winners (Secret Squares Remix) DEMO by Secret Squares

We Don’t Stop by Secret Squares

Hope you’re as hyped as us for SECRET SQUARES!  Make sure to come out, cop your free CD, drink a ton of beer at WUNDERBAR (!) and rock out with some real music fans!

In the meantime, we’ll be sure to catch you tonight as nu-disco phenom CODES takes the stage at Buffalo Underground! <3

What You Gonna Do? by CODESHOUSE
Based out of NYC, CODES will be making his way to Edmonton for a party that only TOO LEGIT could deliver.  If you read my last post about TOO LEGIT and the kind of music we’re representing, you’ll understand why CODES will be our first show (with more on the way).  We’re all about creating that party atmosphere centered around the music, not the celebrity of a “top 10” DJ.  As DJs, we know our music and we’re out to invite the acts who make us get down to TOO LEGIT.

For more on CODES, check out his pages on Facebook and SoundCloud.  In the meantime, cop yourself a pair of tickets for the show at FOOSH or BLACKBYRD (both on Whyte Ave).  Only $7 because we’re not after your dollars, just your grooves!

P.S. Peep the minimix below to really get in the mood!

Friday’s at Buffalo Underground are now…Too Legit!

By now you’ve definitely come across TOO LEGIT on Facebook - in short it’s the new Friday night at Buffalo Underground.  Now, I could tell you it’s “Edmonton’s hottest Friday night” (kinda like, every other dance night, ever) but let me be real for a second and explain just what makes it so special:

This isn’t just a night run by Easy Love - not at all.  In truth, Too Legit started when I got a call from Cobra Commander of Oh Snap!, who wanted to start a new night.  Something different, somewhere that we could call home to all the music that we love that never quite fit completely anywhere else.  Especially with the whole moombahton craze that’s finally blowing up (something that namely myself, Cobra Commander and P-Rex have been supporting for over a year), it just feels right to do something that isn’t purely electro and isn’t purely dubstep either.  We all have eclectic tastes and Too Legit is our outlet.

I’m also genuinely excited for Too Legit because of the people on the bill.  Cobra Commander’s been DJing since I was in diapers and P-Rex is one of my favorite local DJs ever.  I’m not just saying that now, I’ve always said that and for good reason.  The other cats all bring something different to the table - Jordan Andrew is an amazing young producer and can scratch like a demon, I can’t wait to see where he’s at in even a year.  The Specialist kills the floor with tracks borne in dance but definitely laced with an urban flavour.  And of course there’s the one and only Polyesterday, who is a truly a mature DJ whose tastes really do round out the rest of our selections.  Put together, Too Legit is a hotbox of experienced DJs who have all been in the game for quite a while.  These are dudes that I really look up to, and it’s more than an honour to play alongside them.

Behind the scenes, you bet we have a lot of ideas cookin’.  Both Easy Love and Oh! Snap have booked countless shows and you can look forward to us pouring our energies into making Too Legit something special as well.  Between having local and international guests, my favorite part about Too Legit is the spirit behind it.  We’re not about egos, crews, or anything of the sort.  We’re really there in the end for the music - after all, that’s why we even began planning to start *a* night together, it just serendipitously ended up being every Friday at Buffalo.

So if you’re as hyped as I am, show your support and come out this Friday.  I won’t be playing every Friday, but in my place we will rotate amongst the roster of Easy Love DJs.  Also, there’ll be some cool VIP cards coming out very very soon for the realheads who know where the party’s at so don’t sleep!

See you tomorrow night!!

Another huge track, in collaboration with Vancouver’s Kissed With A Noise…and Young Buck? You’ve probably heard this if you’ve come to our shows before:
